Following the success of their Autumn/Winter 2005–6 collection, Fiona Sinha and Aleksandar Stanic, design duo behind SINHA—STANIC, return to the catwalk once again backed by New Generation.
This collection draws inspiration from a nostalgic look at British summer times past, old family portraits, photographs, and much research into antique clothing. Delicately embroidered soft tulle dresses are a modern take on a romantic Edwardian aesthetic. Sculpted skirts and dresses are reminiscent of the 1950’s, but are realised in modern fabrics, cotton and linen with metal and shantung style taffeta.
Photographs from the 1930’s onwards, when children were once dressed in oversized garments with the aim of there being room for growth, have greatly inspired this collection’s resulting silhouettes. Oversized garments have been played with thus creating looks that envelop the body. Draped pieces and voluminous coats and jackets are drawn in at the waist with belts, ties and smocking or pleating details, so that the waist is emphasised while the silhouette always appearing feminine.
Antique touches appear throughout the collection, from delicate amber seed beading to 40’s inspired georgette pleated collars. The remnant of a tattered 50’s summer dress provided the artwork for a softly textured floral print.
This Spring/Summer look is effortless and modern drawing elegance and romance from the past.
The collection will be manufactured and distributed by luxury Italian group AEFFE whose clientele includes Jean-Paul Gaultier, Alberta Ferretti, Narcio Rodriguez and Moschino.
